SOCCER 2018 WELCOME LETTER

10 Mar 2018 by Susie Lidge

⚽️We are pleased and excited to announce the official start of the CCCS soccer program. We are looking forward to another great season!
Our season has officially started and students are practicing very hard to prepare for great competition. This year along with CCCS, other schools involved with the Hawaii Sports Fellowship soccer program are: Koolau, Friendship, Trinity, Maili, and Kaimuki Christian.

⚽️Thank you to those who attended the mandatory parents’ meeting. Here are some highlights to recap what was covered:

Regular practice times:
• For 7th-8th grade boys practice will start during their PE hour (2:45pm) with Mr. Kahunahana and go till about 4:45pm.
• For all 9th-12th graders, practice will start during their PE hour or after the last class session for the day (3:45pm) and go till about 5:30pm.
• Practices will be held at Waiau field and the school field next to the gym.
• If a student is not able to attend a practice session or game, the coach must be informed as soon as possible.
• Soccer practice schedules will allow for participation in Cross Country practices about once a week which will help condition the students for the rigorous physical demands of soccer.
• Additional soccer skills sessions may be offered on others days as needed. You and your student will be informed of these sessions throughout the season.
• Cleats and shinguards are required for playing soccer (practice and games).
Sports Registration form and Pre-participation Physical Evaluation Forms: If not done so already, please have the sports registration and pre-participation physical evaluation forms completed as soon as possible. Turn these in to the school office as soon as possible. Completion of these forms is required for all those participating in soccer. Coach Benji will be collecting these forms.

⚽️Soccer fees:
$175 if soccer is the first sport for the 2017-2018 school year; $75 if at least one other sport for the 2017-2018 school year was played; and $50 if the student is currently enrolled in Taekwondo. Payable to CCCS (please be sure to let the office know the fee is for soccer).

⚽️Soccer match sideline etiquette: Please know that as parents/friends/family members who are spectators of our students’ soccer matches, we are to be role models and Christlike representatives of our school and our league. Sideline communication must be kind and respectful of referees, other schools’ players and their family/friends, teammates, and coaching staff. Positive, encouraging (cheering), and edification of students is the expectation of all spectators during matches. Allow referees to officiate the match to the best of their abilities and allow coaches to coach to the best of their abilities. Adhering to these expectations and roles will allow us to have a blessed and successful season! Deviations to this expected sideline etiquette will be dealt with by coaches and the league administration.
⚽️Game schedule details are forthcoming. The dates of games will likely be on the following Saturdays: March 24; March 31; April 7; April 14; April 21; and April 28 (playoffs and championships). All games will be held at Waiau field.
Help: Since CCCS is now in charge of the Hawaii Sports Fellowship league the demands/duties for soccer field set up/breakdown, maintenance, schedule, and other communication are more than what was needed from volunteer coaches in past. Parents’ help and support are needed now more than ever. Please let the coaches know if you can assist in anyway. It is much appreciated!

“Team App”: In order to keep all of CCCS soccer program parents, coaches, and players on the same page we will be using the free “Team App” for most all scheduling/snack sign ups/communication/alerts, etc. You will be able to sign up for snacks and set up/break down duties ahead of time. This will help tremendously with organizing our season. Thank you to Susie Lidge for helping coordinate this effort!

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email the coaches. Thank you for your support of the CCCS soccer program!
